Challenge #153 - "Use My Tangle" - Jailed Johnny

The Diva's challenge for week #153 is a UMT (Use My Tangle) challenge featuring Jailed Johnny - by Sadelle Wiltshire, CZT.

This tangle allows user to apply lot's of variations. I definitely kept to the letter, not taking it literally, but used the basic elements. Check out her step out instructions. Nice tangle Sadelle!

I used tanglepatterns.com string pattern #90 and went the basic Monotangle route, nestling Jailed Johnny tangleations in bed's of Tipple, shading, and line work.. Try it, you'll like it.

W2 Monotangle Challenge Attempts - It's a journey

First attempt gone awry or wonky
I get so easily sidetracked!
I'm trying Roy Stauffer's monotangle challenge. The challenge is to monotangle (thanks Laura H.) using the tangle W2. I began this challenge working from memory (bad idea) which turned into Huggy Bear? I find W2 a little challenging because of the structure. Then onward and upward, just work with what I have on this first attempt. I get soooo distracted by shiny things, textures, ideas... I digress, but it's a fun journey. This one is Huggy Bearish, belts, grommets & Shoe strings.

I'll pick myself up and try again (deep sigh, cleansing breathe and gooooo).

Second version of the W2 Monotangle; still wonky, but I kept true to the "tenants" of this tangle. Over and under, used squares for the top area, turned my tile for a diagonal attempt using "circles" not squares. A little line work (my fave), some threads, connecting the sections, and the end result is pleasing or at least resembles W2 with a touch of Huggins. This helped me get into the flow of the tangle, I feel more comfortable with this structured pattern, straight lines, not so much. No mistakes, just resolutions and relaxing, smiling and breathing! I'm been so productive because I need to go out and finish my windows for spring cleaning!

shading, and "threads" added

Challenge #111 - More-Mooka-Madness Monotangle-Mania

Mooka is the focus of this weeks Diva Challenge #111. We're asked to do a Mooka monotangle and see what we can come up with for tangelations and explore the possibilities of this lovely tangle. Mooka is one of my very favorites, I love the flow and the concentration it takes to do this tangle correctly. It is beautiful and Mookalishish!

I chose to make my first version blump and luscious with Auras and a variety of textures behind each plump little beauty. I found a fun fern background to place behind my ZIA scan.

I then chose to do a large single Mooka with lots of lovely swirls and tendrils. I created this Mooka with one continuous line which created a single Mooka tangle shape. I then shaded the heck out of it. This process makes working with the flows and undulations of Mooka so enjoyable, you really have to remain present. This reminds me of a lovely swirling pin. Fun, fun, fun!

I also included a white recycled tile I created this Christmas. I did quite a few this December and meant to show some of them on the blog. So this is the perfect week to show this tile. I didn't use any grey so it was an exercise in using my line work and stippling to create shading. It sits it on a metal frame stand displayed it in my living room  It isn't a monotangle but I love the way Mooka turned out on this piece.

When Rick and Maria came out with their first video showing Maria creating this beautiful tangle I went a little CRAZY, I mooka for two weeks straight I just couldn't stop drawing this fabulous tangle. So for me it's one of my faves and always a go to to add a touch of elegance to any of my work!

This Mooka ZIA was created using one
continuous line
This is a 6" recycled tile I did this Christmas:
