Challenge #60 - Duo Tangle with Cirquital and Munchin

This weeks Diva's challenge asks us to create a duo tangle using Cirquital and Munchin. I use Munchin quite a bit, especially nice to accompany Paradox, but Cirquital is not one I'm usually drawn to (excuse the pun). As always, I learn something with every challenge and I'm feeling Cirquital more now.

These two tangles do seem to compliment each other well and I enjoyed getting into the rythmn of Munchin.

I used my Tangle a Day calendar for this challenge, oh what fun!

Challenge #59 - Mardi Gras

This weeks Diva challenge was suggested by OwlLovingApril she suggested using a Mardi Gras theme.  Today was Fat Tuesday, the beginning of Lent and the Mardi Gras celebration.

My sister and brother in law lived in Louisianna many years ago. When I visited them we visited New Orleans. It was beautiful with wonderful old architecture, ornate grill work on balconies throughout the French Quarter, Mardi Gras is a vivacious celebration with beads, baubles, gems, and plumes (my new tangle), that's what I chose to reflect in my tile.

I used MG as my string and let it fly from there!

Challenge #58 - Diamonds

The Diva's challenge this week has a guest host by CZT Diana Hirsch asks us to use the Four Diamond Fund logo as our string or inspiration. The four diamonds stand for Strength, Honesty, Wisdom, and Courage. Penn State University’s Dance Marathon—lovingly called THON —is an annual event that benefits The Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital.

I tried to incorporate the feeling of music and dance in the top floating diamonds and show the organic interaction of the four diamond logo throughout.

This is a wonderful cause for this week's challenge.

Weekly Challenge #57: Use My Tangle (UMT) Version 1 - Sanibelle

This week the Diva's challenge is featuring it's First Monday of the Month "Use My Tangle" Challenge and this month the tangle is Tricia Faraone's Sanibelle. This is a lovely tangle that definitely emulates beautiful flowing sea plants or sea shells, at least that's what it brings up for me.

This little tile just screamed for a sea nymph nestled within the flowing bed of Sanibelle. A large sea pearl, Nipa, Tipple, Tagh. I went the more organic, textured route with this tile. The simplicity of the large pearl against the ornate Sanibelle seems to set them off well.

As a child, I was always drawn to mermaids. I spent my childhood summers at camp and the lake and swimming was a major part of my experience. I never wanted to cut my hair so when I grew up I could become a Weekee Watchee Mermaid with my long flowing hair and wearing the lovely mermaid tail! Quite lofty goals, no?

I never became a WW Mermaid but I was a syncronized swimmer in high school and still love the water (sans tail and long flowing locks!). Not so fond of the bathing suit part any more!

Trying some new tangles

Trying some new tangles (to me), Pavonia, Cockles n' Mussells, Spaanders, Pendrils, Krli-Q tangelation and some Radiating orbs. I'm going to try and do 3 tangles a week. I always do the Diva's weekly challenge but I'm going to try and challenge myself a little further.

Challenge #56 - Opposite hand challenge (aka Non Dominatrix* v.2)

The Diva's challenge this week brings back the good ol' opposite hand challenge (AKA Non Dominatrix). Boy, does my left hand have a mind of it's own... Never wanting to stop at the line (making Paradox a challenge), circles are a little curvier than usual, my hand going on it's own little journey at times. I kept my lines wobbly (I like wobbly), bit my tongue a bit, held my breath when I tried making circles but tried to go with the flow.

I noticed I had to move the position of my lamp since my left hand was throwing weird shadows on my paper. I also found it easier to do the black fill in when I put my hand in the position I see my left handed friends use when they are writing. Now it all makes sense!

I use my old stand byes: Paradox, Flukes, Roller Coaster, Print Temps, some Tipple and Beads. Whew, filling in the dark and shading were Verrrrry challenging. But it will make my normal tangling process feel like a breeze!

I did it, by jove! It's all about exploration and stretching our boundaries, right?

Challenge #55 - String Theory VIII: Moebius Trip

The Diva's challenge for this week asks us to use the logo for Moebius Syndrome as the string for the challenge. Moebius Syndrome Awareness day is January 24th and the perfect challenge for this week.

As a child, adults were always saying things like "Just thank your lucky stars that you have your health". It didn't seem like that big a deal as a child, but as I get older and older I realize how lucky I have been in my life. Health and wellness is everything. I thank Laura for opening up her life and sharing Artoo's struggles with us. We can support and be more aware.

I chose to free-form the logo and the negative spaces just seem to ask for Paradox, with Printemps and Shattuck as support tangles. Lot's of lines and shading and Viola!

Here's to you Artoo!
