This week the Diva's challenge is featuring it's First Monday of the Month "Use My Tangle" Challenge and this month the tangle is Tricia Faraone's Sanibelle. This is a lovely tangle that definitely emulates beautiful flowing sea plants or sea shells, at least that's what it brings up for me.
This little tile just screamed for a sea nymph nestled within the flowing bed of Sanibelle. A large sea pearl, Nipa, Tipple, Tagh. I went the more organic, textured route with this tile. The simplicity of the large pearl against the ornate Sanibelle seems to set them off well.
As a child, I was always drawn to mermaids. I spent my childhood summers at camp and the lake and swimming was a major part of my experience. I never wanted to cut my hair so when I grew up I could become a Weekee Watchee Mermaid with my long flowing hair and wearing the lovely mermaid tail! Quite lofty goals, no?
I never became a WW Mermaid but I was a syncronized swimmer in high school and still love the water (sans tail and long flowing locks!). Not so fond of the bathing suit part any more!

Very...very Lovely!
ReplyDeleteThis has such grace and movement to it. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteWonderful tile! The Sanibelle is perfect against the sea pearl. And considering your story, there is NO WAY you could not include a mermaid. She's so beautifully tangled, she fits right in!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! Love the large sea pearl.
ReplyDeleteWow - this is one of my favorites! Great job on this one. I even remember when you were a dashing mermaid at Halloween - one of your best costumes as I recall!
ReplyDeleteVery cool! Fantastic job! :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!! Thank you for sharing your memories and your nice comments in my blog.
ReplyDeletePerfect! I absolutely love your sea nymph! Great choice and composition of tangles!
ReplyDeleteThis is great. I think it would make a wonderful card!
ReplyDeleteI tried to respond on my tablet but I kept getting dropped by the wireless....I am so glad I see that I almost missed letting you know that I love the mermaid! and the sanibelle is the perfect habitat! So creative.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your tile! The Sea Nymph is just precious. Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYour mermaid is just perfect for your tile. I was a syncronized swimmer too but I don't swim much anymore - swimsuit issue.
ReplyDeleteWow! Gorgeous view from under-the-sea! Beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteGreat tile and so much fun to have added the little mermaid face peering around!
